| CAREY WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 2025 S2 WEEK 5 |
| | By now, you’ve got the hang of it (or you need to soon!). Assessments are coming due soon, and you’re on the brink of a key point in the semester—Study and Reading Weeks. During this three-week period from Monday, 1 September to Friday, 19 September, there will be no classes (except for block courses), no weekly karakia, and no community lunches. Use these three weeks to get work done on assessments, plan for the rest of the term, and get some study in. But, we encourage you to also find some space to chill—sometimes a walk on the beach, or a coffee with a friend can get you right. Classes resume in week 10 on Monday, 22 September. If you have any questions, talk to your teachers or any of our staff. |

| Assessments and extensions |
| Assessments are getting closer, and we hope you are well on your way to crushing these! Don’t forget to make sure you are up to speed on appropriate use of AI and more. The Assessment Declaration page has also been changed, and you must submit one for EVERY assessment. So, check that one out too—it’s in your course page(s) on CareyOnline, under the Assessments tab. ExtensionsIf you are worried about getting your assessments done in time and would like to request an extension, please contact Neroli Hollis, and complete an Application for Extension form. Remember, these are for unforseen circumstances, not poor planning. |
| |
| | Also, make the most of the 10 Essentials on CareyOnline. They are helpful as with details and examples of referencing, how to write and submit assigments, how to smash your footnotes, and so much more! Use these docs—it’ll make a big difference! |
| |
| | We have a former student, Grace Chamberlain, sharing with us next week. Grace will be speaking on Mark 14:1-11. She will explore the contrast between the jar-breaking, all-in faith of the unnamed woman, the still-missing-the-point faith of the others present, and Judas’ outright betrayal, as a way of challenging us with the all-in nature of following Jesus. Karakia audio recordingsYou can listen to the karakia recordings for the first five weeks on CareyOnline. Check them out! |
| |
| | Anna, Mei Ling, and Siong are keen as to assist you with anything you need. Flick them an email, give them a call (09 526 0347), or stop by the library. Library Hours- Monday to Thursday: 8:30am to 6:30pm
- Friday: 9am to 5pm
- Saturday: 10am to 12:30pm
Accessing Archives and Stack collectionAs a reminder, accessing the archives collection or books that are in the stack collection will require some forward planning for the next few months. Three working days' notice needs to be given if you would like anything from either collection. Just give us a shout, and we will help you out. |

| Carey Graduate School Research Conference |
| If you are interested in what integrative theology might look like beyond the undergraduate world, we would love for you to join us for our Carey Graduate School conference. It is free and comes with food—so there is also that! We will be hearing from several current Carey graduate students, a guest historian from Otago, and some Carey Alumni. We would love for you to join us but do need you to register online so we know how much to cater. |
| |
| | It’s a ways off still, but some of you are graduating next year, and we can’t start getting excited about that too soon. Graduation will take place Saturday, 16 May 2026 from 2pm (location TBC). Those graduating will need to arrive by noon), so mark your calendars. If you’re graduating, a form to apply to graduate will be available from Neroli shortly. Stay tuned! |
