CAREY WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 2023 SEMESTER 1 WEEK 6

Great Power and Abundant Grace

"And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all" (Acts 4:33

This weekend marks the most significant time in the history of our faith. It's easy enough to forget that, though, right? We have heaps on--family, study, camp, health, finances, and church, just to name a few. But, do we recognise the great power that charactised the life of the early church? They clung to the power of the resurrection. With abundant grace, they proclaimed Jesus, and it changed the world forever.

Whether you are at camp, celebrating with your church family tomorrow and Sunday, or something else, we pray that the power and grace of our Lord bring new life to you this Easter weekend.

Assessment Support

As you are working on assessments over the Study and Reading weeks, you may come to a point where you need a bit of help. Don't worry, because support is never far off. The library team are available after the Easter break and have normal hours, 8.30am-6.30pm.

Also, Tanya and Eugene are available to chat and help, and you can email them if you need anything.

Don't forget about the 10 Essentials found on CareyOnline. These are invaluable resources that can make a massive difference as you complete your work.

Easter Closure and Semester Break

Just a reminder that Carey is closed from tomorrow, Friday, 7 April (Good Friday) through Tuesday, 11 April for Easter.

Beginning the week after Easter Sunday, Carey's Study and Reading weeks begin, spanning semester-weeks seven through nine. During that time, Carey will also be closed Tuesday, 25 April in observance of ANZAC day. Lectures will resume in week 10, beginning Monday, 1 May.

From 26-29 April, the Insights into Church History block course will take place on campus.

Your Peer Writing Assistants

Did you know that Carey has a peer-based, academic-writing support programme? We have two new Peer Writing Assistants for 2023, who have volunteered their time to work with students to help them with academic writing and literacy. Thank you, Moana and Keren (left to right in the photo above) for helping offer this support.

To book a 20-40-minute session, contact the Library with the following details:

  • Your name and student ID number
  • Which assessment you are focusing on (course, assessment outline), and briefly identify what aspect of the assessment you would like help with.
  • Whether you want a 20-minute or 40-minute slot (in-person, via Zoom, or email)!

No Karakia or Community Lunches

There will be no karakia and no community lunches during the Study and Reading weeks. They will resume in week 10, which begins Monday, 1 May.
