CAREY WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 2023 SEMESTER 1 WEEK 5

Preparing to Prepare

There's just one more week before our Study and Reading weeks begin at Carey. While normal, timetabled courses will not be taking place, there is still learning and work to be done. On CareyOnline, your lecturers will have self-directed study for you to engage with each week, like reading through a gospel, supplementing your study though engaging videos, and catching up (or getting ahead!) on assessments. So take a moment to look ahead so you don't miss anything!

As you continue engaging your course work, take some time to think about how Jesus has met with you so far in this semester. How have you grown? What has challenged you? What has given you life?

Going to Easter Camp?

If you're heading to Mystery Creek for Northern Easter Camp 6-10 April, come see us in the cafe, and take your photo on the Carey couch! Emma, Sam, and Caleb will be teaching seminars, and Nicola and John will be visiting too.

Michael will be at Central Easter camp, so visit him if you’re in the area. Next year, we must get some staff at Southern Easter camp! How about if you’re at Southern, gather as many Carey people together as you can, and send us a pic.

And don't forget daylight savings ends this weekend, so clocks will go backward early Sunday morning! Enjoy the extra sleep (unless you have young kids...)!

LAST CHANCE to Complete First Steps

If you're a new student and haven't yet, please complete the First Steps course on CareyOnline. This is the final weekend to do it, so please complete First Steps by Monday, 3 April.

Karakia this Tuesday

Join us in the chapel or join us via Zoom for worship together. The fabulous Phil Halstead will be sharing with us next week.

Meeting ID: 962 7072 5701.

We can't wait to see you!

Join via Zoom!

Easter Closure and Semester Break

Just a reminder that Carey is closed from next Friday, 7 April (Good Friday) through Tuesday, 11 April for Easter.

Beginning the week after Easter Sunday, Carey's Study and Reading weeks begin, spanning semester-weeks seven through nine. During that time, Carey will also be closed Tuesday, 25 April in observance of ANZAC day. Lectures will resume in week 10, beginning Monday, 1 May.

From 26-29 April, the Insights into Church History block course will take place on campus.

E-book Code-Breaking Competition

There is still time to enter the latest code-breaking competition hosted by the library. Submissions are due Wednesday, 5 April. The winner will be announced Thursday, 6 April.

Good Friday March of Witness

On Friday, 7 April, join with Auckland city churches and campus chaplaincies for the Good Friday March of Witness. The procession will begin at St Andrew's First Presbyterian Church at 8.30am and venture through city streets for reflections at stations of the cross.

A service of reflection and contemplation will take place at St Andrew's Church at 11 am, following the march.

You are invited to participate, and also attend a Maundy Thursday Eucharist on 6 April at 7pm.
