Haere mai. Welcome to Mission Week!

Whether you are on campus or joining us from afar, we want to invite you to set some time aside this week to reflect on God's mission. Where is God inviting you to participate and how can you respond faithfully? This year we are delighted to again be partnering with Arotahi, our Baptist missions whānau. We have provided some resources below to help you understand a bit more about the work and prayerfully consider where God is moving in your own life. If you are onsite, we have set these resources up as 'story spots' for you to engage with, but we didn't want those of you offsite to miss out! We really encourage you to set some time aside to sit with God as you consider these.

If you sense God is prompting you to consider things further, Annie and Emma are always happy to chat and pray for and with you.

Giving God Your Yes

"Here I stand, the servant of the Lord, let it be to me according to your word"
Luke 1:38

God first said “yes” to us through the act of creation: by giving us life and the blessing of His presence and spirit. Our “yes” to God is always a response to what God is already doing. Whether we have said “yes” in the past or whether this is our first time, our response is always in the present tense. It is worked out and lived out each day through our decisions, motives, comments and actions.

We know that we are all made to be a part of the mission of God. This Mission Week we want to draw your attention to discerning where God is leading you.

This week would you consider where God is asking to you say ‘yes’.

God,

You, who first spoke Yes, are the One who breathed life into being.

You, who drew close, spoke to Mary, calling her to bear your hope into the world. Teach me to listen to the movement of your Spirit, and to walk humbly in your ways, so that I too may say Yes, echoing the love and openness that Mary showed.

Weave my response into the fabric of your Kingdom work:

To notice the faithfulness of others, to nurture the seeds of courage, and to invite other to say Yes.

May my Yes be to the work of justice and renewal:

To stand with those at the margins, and to go to the places you call, from here to the ends of the world.

Like Marey, may I carry your hope. May my Yes join with your work, so that your Kingdom of justice and peace my take root in our world.

Love Calcutta Arts

Love Calcutta Arts LCA is based in Kolkata, India. It was established to create opportunities for women to experience more freedom through meaningful employment, alongside holistic, wrap-around support. LCA produces beautifully crafted leather and textile goods.

Priya leads Love Calcutta Arts and has chosen to leave the comfort of her home to be part of what God is doing in the red light districts in Kolkata. To see more women experience freedom - through knowing God, meaningful employment and safer communities.

Prayer for India

Things have become increasingly difficult for freedom business like LCA, The Loyal Workshop and Joyya in the last few years.

First covid 19, then the tariffs put in place by the USA, the effects of war on fuel prices and now the PJB government led by Modi has seen increased persecution for christians and other minority groups in India. When disaster, crisis or corruption is going on in the world it is the communities that live with material poverty or vulnerability that are most hurt.

Please join us in holding up our brother and sisters in prayer:

• For the christians who are experiencing persecution or living with the threat of persecution.
• For the communities of LCA, The Loyal Workshop and Joyya who are working to create places of hope and light in the darkness.
• Gods provision and sales for these freedom businesses so that they can continue to give meaningful employment to so many people.
• For the political climate in India and the student protests that are currently happening.
• For the many christian organisations that are working in India that could be removed by the current government.
• For Gods will to be done.
