A Meaningful Mission Week
This week we celebrated Mission Week at Carey. Emma Stokes shared a dynamic and engaging message with us at our weekly karakia, and the art installation Nicola curated featured meaningful aspects of the various cultures represented in our Carey whānau.
But perhaps one of the most meaningful aspects of the week were the "story spots" of some of our past and current Arotahi people who committed to mission. These stories of our whakapapa inspired us through incredible figures like Rosalie MacGeorge, who at 27 boarded a ship one-way to South Asia in 1886 to follow a calling from God. Academic Committee Student Reps
These three wonderful students (left-to-right in the photo above: Herman Yeung, Katie Cuttriss, and Judith Thomas) are your Student Academic Representatives on Academic Committee. The committee meets once every four to six weeks during the year. The student reps are there to represent you and participate in the discussions, evaluation, and monitoring of all academic processes and policies here at Carey.
They are invited to table any issues, present feedback, and be the student voice on the committee. If you have any feedback or ideas about how to make studying at Carey even better than it is, feel free to email Herman, Katie, and Judith or chat to them if you see them around.

Tanya and Eugene (our amazing student support Learning Advisers) are hosting workshops where they'll walk through some tips that will help you with your assessments--referencing, 10 Essentials, formatting, using the library, etc. You won't want to miss them!

First Steps Deadline Nears
If you're a new student and haven't yet, please complete the First Steps course on CareyOnline. The deadline is only ONE WEEK AWAY (Friday, 18 August), so get to it if you haven't comepleted it.
As a reminder, CareyLocal student are NOT required to complete this course, however, you can view the helpful First Steps tutorial videos on our 10 Essentials page on CareyOnline.
