CAREY WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 2023 SEMESTER 2 WEEK 1

The Journey has begun

It's only the end of week 1, but what a great start it has been. This week marked the start of CareyLocal, with groups from across Aotearoa gathering to study and learn together. Our pastoral leadership students have come to Auckland and spent the last couple days growing as a cohort. We've gathered at karakia with Christa sharing about the dignity of hearing and speaking through the prophet, Huldah. Community lunches have also started again for those on-site (and the kai was amazing!!!). And, of course, the academic has only just begun for so many of you, with countless exciting things in store along the path ahead.

The start of the semester also means a lot of administrative things to do. Be sure to stop by reception and talk to Jacqui about parking stickers, ID cards, and pay for coffee if you plan to use the SASS machine in the wharekai. If you need to change courses, you need to complete an Application to Change Courses form and submit it to Neroli.

Parking, ID Cards, and Changing Courses

As a reminder, here are a few important things to know for the start of the semester:

  • Car stickers for parking are available at reception. Talk to Jacqui if you plan to park your car on campus.
  • You can also pick up your ID card at reception after you pay any applicable fees and submit your Public Trust form, if needed.
  • Finally, if you need to change courses, there is still time. Complete an Application to Change Courses form and submit it to Neroli.

Carey's Penrose Campus Property Sale

Over the years, we've been exploring how to best use our assets for new income streams for students as we continue our work at Carey. One avenue of exploration has been the potential sale of our Penrose property and moving to another site.

In August, we will be putting our property on the market some time next month. Most likely, when we sell, we will take a two-year lease back from the new owners, so we can spend enough time finding the best place to relocate For more information, check out this full story on our website.
