SEMESTER 1  |  WEEK 16
This year, Deborah and I have had the privilege of lecturing the Intermission Class “Exploring God’s Word”, where we have explored the Scriptures through the 6 acts: Creation, Fall, Covenant, Jesus, the Church and New Creation.

In our two years teaching this class, we have been amazed at the questions and wonderings of young people as they dive deeper into the collection of stories that make up the grand story of God’s Word.

Every year our final assignment involves students creatively presenting the Story of Scripture. We have had spoken word poetry, paintings, youtube clips, Ted-talk style presentations, an original song, and even a Minecraft video!

This picture is of McKayla Sinclair, presenting her carved whakairo depicting the story of Scripture (if you see her around, ask her what the different parts mean!). For us, it was a beautiful depiction of the imagination that is sparked when we encounter Scripture as “our story”.

LOOKING FOR STUDENT PREACHERS FOR RETIREMENT VILLAGE

Can you help?

Phil Halstead writes:
I have a wondering? A friend of my (now deceased) mother rang me yesterday from Powley Village Blockhouse Bay. She wondered if a few Carey students would be willing to preach a ten-minute sermon to mostly 70 plus year-olds at their Sunday chapel service once every two or so months.

If this is something you would be willing and able to do please contact Phil - email him at phil.halstead@carey.ac.nz and he'll connect you.

ASSESSMENT TIME

You will all be busy with final assessments – we are praying that as you work through these that there would be life-giving insights of truth and grace that would encourage you and turn your eyes every-more towards Jesus.

Please remember that there are resources on CareyOnline to help you with assessment writing (10 Essentials), the library team are there to help with finding appropriate research /resources and referencing questions, and the Peer Writing Team are also available to help.
