Karen Schilperoort writes…

That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked out into something good.” Romans 8:28

Recently in church I had the amazing privilege of listening to Edith Arcus share her testimony about this verse. I’ve heard this verse so many times I had almost become de-sensitised to its meaning.

Edith shared about the good that God brought out of the tragic death of her husband Graham earlier this year. Graham died as a result of being attacked while walking home from a church prayer meeting on a Saturday night last May. Edith is an amazing woman - with such depth of character and love for the Lord - who integrates scripture and forgiveness in her everyday life.

Here are some of the good things Edith shared regarding Graham’s death:

That Graham was seen eating an ice-cream at Ollies by a fellow church member just prior to his death – important for the police report that his blood sugar was not low as he was a diabetic – so therefore did not stumble and injure himself.

Two women heard the attack from their home and were able to be there and comfort Graham and placed a pillow under his head while waiting for the ambulance.  As it turned out, the two ladies are zealous Christians.

The young man with a history of violence was now off the streets and thus prevented from inflicting further violent acts on the public.

Graham was now with his Lord and free from the many illnesses that that had burdened him for nearly twenty years.

Thank you so much Edith for having the courage to share your journey of Graham’s death, with our church family. Thank you that your life that is a witness and testimony to the forgiveness and grace of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS

You all are aware of the busyness of this time of the year.

Please do pray for each other particularly remembering:

*                Those finishing qualifications and starting to make some decisions about 2009

*                Teaching staff, as they plan courses for 2009 and work through mounds of marking!

*                Administrative staff who are involved with the day-to-day running of the college

*                Those amongst our community who are facing illness and challenges

Plus don’t forget to celebrate with each other the fun and exciting things that are happening within the community as well.

THANK YOU...IN ADVANCE!

Please do enjoy yourselves and relax in the dining room and recreation room area…There are a lot of people that come and go through those rooms so please just a gentle little reminder to help us keep things tidy for you and the next people by doing your dishes and disposing of rubbish from the main area. We appreciate it. Thank you.
