George Wieland writes...

Good morning, it's Monday!

Good morning to all our Carey graduates who are scattered around the nation and the world as agents of the kingdom of God.

To those who are waking today to an atmosphere of political tension in Thailand, or the grinding round of daily survival in Bangladesh, or the continuing challenge or reconstruction in Samoa, or the high-pressure, high-stakes existence of Macau, offering themselves as kingdom-servants in those contexts... .

To servants of churches the length and breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand who are reflecting on yesterday’s worshipping, speaking, engaging, and struggling to discern the priorities for this week’s kingdom-ministry...

To tertiary students who face the familiar succession of classes and assignments and friendships and flatting, trying in it all to maintain the kingdom-focus they took from their year at Carey...

To people in a range of work and life settings, processing today’s many pressures through the lens of their kingdom-values...

Good morning! May this be a week in which the rule of God in Christ by His Spirit shapes and guides and empowers your living, seeing, feeling, thinking, speaking and acting. And may the kingdom come.

And good morning to all current Carey students and the rest of us who have the joy of sharing in the life of this learning community. May this be a week in which the mind of Christ is formed in us, and every opportunity for learning and growing and being resourced is grasped to the full, so that we become truer in our kingdom-life and each day better equipped for the participation God has for us, now and in the future, in bringing to his world the blessings of the rule of his Son.

Tired? stressed? drowning in assignments? Jesus said, "Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." Matt 11.28.

This week you can find a quiet, reflective space, in the Chapel during the Carey Prayer time. If the idea of candles, background music, praying silently and resting in God's presence appeals, please join us. Just come in when you're ready and leave when you're refreshed.
