What fun we had gathering together in Auckland and Tauranga last Tuesday!

Our Auckland whānau sung, ate, reflected, and hit a volleyball around with a group of students from Taylor University visiting Aotearoa (15 - 7 to the staff, but the students will rally back next year!) 🏐

On the same day, after the PL Track morning cluster at Golden Sands Baptist, our Bay of Plenty whānau shared a cuppa and caught up with each other over a tasty morning tea (leftovers for next week!) ☕️

As the Student Association, we hope that this time together was an encouragement that we are a family of God together.

Course evaluations are now appearing in CareyOnline for the following courses:

Course evaluations are an important way for you to provide feedback on your learning experience. The feedback helps us understand what is working well in each course and where there may be opportunities to improve teaching, course content, resources and the overall learning experience for current and future students.

You have until Thursday 1 October at 11:59pm to complete your course evaluations.

2027 Proposed Student Services Fee

The Student Services Fee is a non-tuition fee that is charged to students enrolled at Carey. The funds received by Carey from the fee can only be spent on student services. So, that means it’s entirely FOR students. But, we need to hear from you! Each year, we request student feedback on the Student Services Fee before it is finalised. This is in compliance with guidelines set out by the Tertiary Education Commission, but we also really care about what you have to say.

Take a look at the 2027 Proposed Student Services Fee, which outlines where the funds will be spent and heaps of other details.

Please review the document and provide feedback to Levi Dyer by Tuesday 6 October 2026.

Merge Cafe Breakfast

The annual Merge cafe breakfast is coming up! On Tues 29 Sept (that's tomorrow!), a bunch of us are going to Merge cafe in Karangahape Road. Everyone is invited!

Merge cafe is a Methodist Mission, and it's a special cafe because inner-city street whānau (homeless people) merge with homed people (like us). The inner-city Chaplain, Lagi, will meet with us at the cafe, to tell us a bit about her work, and Bronwyn Owens (Carey grad, Ecumenical Chaplain at Auckland Hospital, and the previous inner-city chaplain) will be with us too.

We each buy our own breakfast. Prices are really reasonable, and the food and coffee are great (there's also a pay-it-forward option).

We will carpool from Carey at 8.30am, or you can meet us there at 9am, and will return to Carey in time for Karakia. Please let Nicola or Emma know if you would like to come along.

It's time for a competition!

We want to see pics of you fabulous students studying in your places… at the kitchen table, in your church, while milking the cows, listening to a lecture while driving… running.. at the gym… However you engage with Carey—we want to see it!!

No Voice Uncounted
