Psalm 145 8-13

8 The Lord is gracious and merciful,

slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

9 The Lord is good to all,

and his compassion is over all that he has made.

11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom

and tell of your power,

12 to make known to all people your mighty deeds

and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

Study and Reading Weeks approaching

It’s the end of Week 4 already—well done for crushing it so far! There are only two weeks of teaching before we move into our Study and Reading weeks in Weeks 7–9.

From Friday, 3 April (Good Friday) to Friday, 24 May, there will be no regular classes (other than scheduled block courses), and no weekly karakia or community lunches. This three‑week window is designed to give you space to focus, catch up, deepen your learning, and get your head around your assessments.

Use this time intentionally:

• Make progress on assignments

• Revisit readings and course materials

• Prepare yourself for the final stretch

While campus is open, and staff work regularly during Study and Reading weeks, Carey will be closed (including the library) for Easter from Friday, 3 April through Tuesday, 7 April.

Classes resume in Week 10 on Tuesday, 27 April (Monday, 26 April is ANZAC Day, and campus is closed). If you have any questions or need support, don’t hesitate to reach out to your teachers or any of our staff—we’re here to help you thrive.

Assessment prep and AI declaration

Be sure you are planning accordingly with assessments nearing. Set out enough time beforehand to get your research together, create an assessment calendar, and above all, make sure you’ve looked at the 10 Essentials. If you are relatively new to study or have been away for a while, these will make your life SO MUCH easier. If you’re a seasoned pro, there’s still probably something in there that’ll help.

AI declaration requirement

For every assessment, you MUST submit an cover sheet and AI declaration. Your lecturers should go over this with you, and the cover page can be found in the Assessments tab of your course page. Do not forget to submit this REQUIRED form with your assessments.

Extensions

Stuff happens. We get it. Sometimes you need an extension. Here’s what you need to know before you request one:

Assessments handed in up to one week after the due date are marked with 10% late penalty; assessments handed in between 7-14 days are marked pass/fail. Assessments handed in after the two-week period normally are not marked and receive a fail grade. So, be on time!

If you need an extension, please talk to your teacher and Neroli, and complete an application along with evidence of your valid reason for an extension.

Weekly Karakia

We loved hearing from former SASS President, Tim Sze, this week in karakia. Next week, we will gather together for worship and prayer with Christa McKirland sharing from 1 Kings 8 with us. It’s her last time speaking at karakia before she leaves in July.

We are recording sermons from karakia this year, and they will be released in time through the CareyOPEN podcast. Stay tuned!

The library

The library is the place to go for pretty much anything you need while you’re at Carey. Whether you’re online or on-site, Mei Ling and Siong can help you get your resources, answer questions, and be around for support as you study. Flick them an email, give them a call (09 526 0347), or stop by whenever you need them.

Monday to Thursday: 8.30am to 6pm

Friday: 9am to 5pm

Saturday: 10am to 12.30pm

After hours access

First Steps for new students

The First Steps deadline is approaching—2 April. So, if you are a new student and haven’t done so already, hop on CareyOnline and complete the course. It’s a requirement, yes, but it will definitely benefit you, espeically with assessments coming up.
