Online Orientation for New Students

We are hosting an online orientation for new students next week. If you missed orientation this week, or if you are studying from a distance, come along to get helpful information and to meet the team and some of your classmates.

Thursday, 2 March at 7.30pm
Join via Zoom (Meeting ID: 936 0667 5422).

2023 Karakia

The biblical prophets were poets who helped the people of God hear the word of God. Through their poems and pictures, these prophets described the kingdom that God would one day bring when he would dwell among his people, when he would wipe away all the tears from their eyes, when the whole world be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Perhaps most importantly, the prophets reminded the people of God about what it means to be the people of God. They helped the people of Israel remember who they were, why they existed, and how they were to live among their neighbours, in the face of many pressures and challenges.

In our Carey karakia this coming year, through these prophets, we’re going to hear the word of the Lord. What is God saying to us today? What does it mean for us to be the people of God today? In our changing and challenging cultural context, how is the Lord calling us to be an alternative society that shows the world what God is like?

Join us in the chapel, or join us on Zoom this Tuesday, 28 February at 11am to hear from our very own Michael Rhodes.

Community Lunches

A meaningful time to connect for on-site students and staff happens during our weekly community lunches on Mondays at 12.15pm and Tuesdays just after karakia at 12pm.

For the semester, our Monday lunches will feature make-your-own wraps (we will provide the ingredients). Tuesdays will be a cooked meal.

If you are on-site, we encourage you to prioritise these community lunches to connect with one another.

General Formation Tuesdays 10-11am

Study can easily dominate your time at Carey. Our general formation group gives students time each week to pause, reflect, pray, and have some fun together.

All students are welcome to attend general formation on Tuesday mornings throughout the semester with Nicola. If you're on-site, pop into the Library Commons Room, and if you are regional, feel free to join via Zoom (Meeting ID: 971 1733 5757).

First Steps REQUIREMENT and Library Info

All new students are required to complete the First Steps course on CareyOnline. This is a massively helpful online orientation course. Completing it straight away will not only help you get acclimated, but it will also endear you to the entire library staff.
