CAREY WEEKLY 2022 SEMESTER 1 WEEK 9

Back at it

With the mid-semester coming to a close, we hope you have caught up on assessments and enjoyed a wee break. A lot is changing from week 6 to week 10: community lunches are back to twice a week, chapel returns to in-person for the first time all semester, and most courses will be taught on-site.

But we are most excited to have students back at it, whether you are on-site or studying by distance. So, welcome back!

REMINDER - Changes from Monday

We are continuing to move forward with the health and safety of our Carey whānau in mind. From week 10 (starting 9 May) the following changes will be in effect:

  • Community lunches will be Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Chapel/karakia will take place in the chapel but continue to actively engage our distance students. See below for details.
  • All weekly-taught courses will be offered on-site except for MB6/732 Pentateuch, which will remain online for all of semester one.
  • Block courses will be on-campus as per the timetable, and in-person attendance is expected. Please discuss with your teachers if you are unable to attend.
  • Library hours will return to normal. See below for full details.
  • Masking rules remain the same.
  • Please continue to monitor for Covid symptoms, and stay home if you are sick.
Feel free to message Rob if you have any questions.

Community Lunch

Community lunches are back to twice weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays at 12.15pm., and you DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER!

To kick of the second half of the semester, we are also welcoming Julie Polglaze as community cook. Julie previously studied at Carey and says:
“One of the things I loved most when I was studying at Carey was community, and I’m convinced community happens best over food! I am excited to be serving you a whole new range of delicious lunches as well as catching up with old friends and making new ones!”
Be sure to come to lunch this week to welcome Julie and enjoy fantastic kai together!

Weekly Karakia Returns to the Chapel

We are looking forward to returning to in-person karakia this Tuesday at 11.15am! Recognising that we have a new "normal" these days, we are working hard to integrate both on-site and distance students.

Whether you are on-campus or on the South Island, chapel is going to look a little different. So, come prepared to worship together in new and creative ways. Join via Zoom. See you Tuesday!
