WEEK 12
Run the Race Together

I am currently putting together readings and curating theological themes in Scripture for the study tour to Israel and Palestine. As I have reread the story of the Israelites going into the Promised Land, I have been pondering the transition of leadership from Moses to Joshua and how God in his wisdom moves people in and out of roles.

Even the journey of leading Israel was not Moses’ alone for Aaron and Miriam played key roles. No one aside from Jesus is indispensable, or non-replaceable, and really no one carries out a task alone (which may be John’s point in John 19:17a!). As we move toward finishing the semester, I encourage you to run the race together. The Christian life is not a singular task, and while we live in the modernist world and we unfortunately have to mark your assignments that way, in the economy of God, see if there is someone struggling and lend a hand to help them.

Perhaps ask God to show you someone each day that you can support and encourage. Let’s not be like the grumbling Israelites in the wilderness as write our final assignments, but let’s deliberately help one another finish the semester well, and also find space to worship Jesus as we sit down to work.

With prayers, Sarah
