A look at the weeks ahead

You’ve still got some time, but check due dates for your assessments, and plan accordingly. Remember, the end of the semester is Friday, 27 June, and ALL assessments are due then, even if you have been granted an extension.

Assessments handed in up to one week after the due date are marked with 10% late penalty; assessments handed in between 7-14 days are marked pass/fail. Assessments handed in after the two-week period normally are not marked and receive a fail grade. So, be on time!

AI Declaration

And don’t forget about our updated assessment regulations this year, which include a declaration on the appropriate use of AI and more. They are in your course page on CareyOnline, under the Assessments tab.

Extensions

If you need an extension, please talk to your teacher and Neroli, and complete an application along with evidence of your valid reason for an extension.

Course evaluations

We regularly gather feedback for courses across our qualifications. Not all courses are evaluated every semester, but evaluations are open for the following courses:

• Prophets
• Christian Spirituality
• Spirit and Church
• Introduction to the New Testament
• Reflective Field Education I

You will find the link to the evaluations in your respective Course Announcements forum. Surveys will close Thursday, 29 May. Please make completing these a priority.

Also, if you are on-site, Neroli will give you chocolates if you let her know when you have completed your evaluation.

Karakia has been special all year long, and we had a great time hearing from Sam this past week. Next week, Melissa Powell will be sharing with us.

It’s so good to be back!

It’s so great to have students back in classrooms and live on Zoom, and we hope you are all easily able to get back into the rhythms of study. We had an amazing Mission Week with Johan Linder speaking in karakia (see below for a recording if you missed it), encouraging words from Arotahi, and various stations around campus to orient us toward what God is doing around the world. What a great way to kick off the second half of the semester!

Also, you have plenty of time, but check out the graphic above because the last week of lectures (aside from Make-up Monday on 16 June) is fast-approaching, and the end of the semester a couple weeks later. Don’t panic, but keep working hard and planning well!

Our Student Support team are always here for you, just like they have been all semester. Stop by the library, give them a call, or shoot them an email if you need anything at all.

Academic Committee Feedback

Don’t forget you have Herman and Janine as your representatives on Academic Committee. They are here for you if you have any feedback on things like our new AI Declaration or anything else. Shoot either of them an email for things you want raised.

Have you found this gem? The Referencing Cheat Sheet has quick little nuggets for you to help you with your assessments. Need a quick sample of how to reference a book with two authors? It’s on there. How about making a footnote for a journal article? It’s also on there.
