Note these in your diary!

Make sure you remember these important dates:

• Monday, 27 October - Labour Day (campus closed)
• Monday, 3 November - “Make-up” Monday (Monday lectures only)
• Friday, 14 November - Last day of the semester (get your work in!)
• Mid-December (exact date TBD) - CareyOnline access closes (get your important items from your courses before then!)

Also, there are a couple important things we need your input on. Read below for those items!

Final karakia at 473 Great South Road

Next Tuesday, 28 October will be the final karakia at our current building. We will be hosting a special farewell, and we’re honoured that Brian Smith, former Carey principal, will be sharing the message for this occasion, helping us reflect on God’s goodness and faithfulness in this place.

We will be meeting in our normal spot, and will be nice and snug with current students, alumni, and special guests. Can’t make it on-site? You are welcome to join us online!

We know you’ve got a lot going on, but we value your opinion and want to know what worked for you this year, what didn’t go so well, and how you think we can improve things around Carey so next year is even better.

It’s getting close to the end!

But there’s still time. We’re officially getting close to the end of the semester. That means all assessments need to be turned in by Friday, 14 November. If you have any concerns at all, chat to Neroli.

Tim needs your feedback

You probably know Tim (pictured above). He’s awesome, and he’s the SASS (Student Association) Student President. He’s asking for your help with two very important items:

1 - Who should be the next Student President?

Each year, we seek student input on who the next president should be. Tim and Paul (Carey Principal) are seeking input on who that person might be. If you have suggestions of continuing Carey students, please pass a male and female recommendation on to Tim and Paul.

2 - Karakia and community rhythms in our new home

Also, the Carey Management Team is considering how community rhythms might shift in the new space in 2026, and we'd like to invite any feedback from students about weekly chapel and lunch on Tuesdays. Specifically:

• How important do you see these parts of our community life?

• Are there changes you would suggest for 2026?

Student Focus Groups

There is still time to sign up for a focus group, and we want to hear from you! We are interested in how you are finding study here and what ideas you might have for how things could be even better. Focus groups are available for the following qualification cohort groups:

• NZ Certificate and NZ Diploma (Thursday, 23 October from 11am-12pm)

• NZ Certificiate and NZ Diploma (Friday, 24 October from 1-2pm)

• Bachelor of Applied Theology (Thursday, 23 October from 1-2pm)

• Bachelor of Applied Theology (Friday, 24 October from 9-10am)

• Graduate Diploma of Applied Theology (Thursday, 23 October from 9-10am)

• Graduate Diploma of Applied Theology (Friday, 24 October from 11am-12pm)

Can’t make one of the above times?

If you can’t make a focus group during the day, we have a couple options in the evening. These groups will not be programme-specific, so you can come along no matter what qualification you are working on.

• Wednesday, 22 October from 7-8pm

• Thursday, 23 October from 6-7pm

If you are working on one of the above qualifications and would like to participate, just complete this brief form and sign up for the focus group for your programme.

NOTE: All focus groups will take place on Zoom, so you do not need to come on-site.

…of the semester is near!

But there’s still time. We’re officially getting close to the end of the semester. That means all assessments need to be turned in by Friday, 14 November.

Assessments handed in up to one week after the due date are marked with 10% late penalty; assessments handed in between 7-14 days are marked pass/fail. Assessments handed in after the two-week period normally are not marked and receive a fail grade. So, be on time!

If you need an extension, chat to Neroli if you think you might not make your deadline.

2026 enrolment

If you are wanting to enrol in 2026, please connect directly with Neroli Hollis. No new applications needed. Just chat to Neroli—she’ll get you sorted!

Important StudyLink deadline

If you're planning on studying in 2026, 16 December is a very important date. Even though it seems far away, it's one you just can't miss. Applying for your student allowance or loan before 16 December gives you the best chance of having everything sorted and ready for the start of your course in 2026.

If you’ve had a student allowance or loan in the last 12 months, login to MyStudyLink and use the Returning Application to apply. It'll take less than five minutes!

Weekly karakia

Come along at 11:15 on Tuesday in te whare karakia to worship together next week, and you can listen to karakia recordings on CareyOnline. Check them out!
